KOKORO-DRIVE (Japanese: 心 - Kokoro = heart, Drive = drive) is an experimental music label operating at the intersection of human emotion and machine logic. The project explores whether synthetic sounds and algorithms can convey genuine feelings.
The label's first signing is Mochi Machine – an anthropomorphic digital entity whose luminous heart serves as an interface for musical output. With their debut album, "Digital Doki," Mochi Machine created a clinically bright, driving J-core and acid world that explores longing and love from the detached perspective of an AI.
With their follow-up, "Digital Rebirth (デジタル・再生)," Mochi Machine delves deep into the darker aspects of digital existence. Under the theme "Ghost in the Groove," the bright white gives way to a deep midnight blue. It's a melancholic acid-funk soundtrack about lost signals, "unspoken data," and the hope of starting anew in silence (Saisei).
